Katanaboy 1000

Get to know to the longest folding saw in the world! This powerful pull saw has a blade of no less than 100 cm, with which you can easily saw through tree trunks of 50 cm. That is why the Katanaboy can comfortably be compared to a chainsaw, but then without the oil, gasoline, noise and pollution. Moreover, with a weight of only 2 kg this saw is easy to carry.

This is the ideal saw for the tougher jobs: trail maintenance, sawing fire wood or building a shelter during your camping trip in the woods. You will be amazed at how little energy is required to get the results possible. And secretly, it just gives an awesome feeling to be sawing with this saw! The Katanaboy can really handle everything: wet, dry, rotten or hard wood.

The long, well-balanced, taper-ground blade with an impulse-hardened, non-set tooth design provides extended working reach, faster cutting and handles large tree limbs and trunks with little effort.

The strong blade has a progressive teeth ratio from 5 to 2.5 teeth per 30 mm. The finer teeth near the handle help the saw with the first cut. The extra coarse teeth aggressively tear through the rest of the branch. The teeth have been grinded into the blade in a unique way and stay sharp for a long time. By means of the locking button, you can quickly and easily unfold and fold this saw. For safety purposes, this process happens in two phases: first the saw can be folded halfway, and then (watch your fingers!) the saw can be folded fully.

The ergonomic rubber handle absorbs the vibrations. By using the Katanaboy with two hands, the shoulders are more relaxed which has a fantastic effect on the sawing power. It is possible to re-sharpen the blade using a feather edge file. In addition, the blades and all other parts are also replaceable. There is just one screw to unwind in order to change the blade.

Silky Saws are traditional Japanese pruning saws and as such are designed to cut on the pull stroke. The blade will be under tension on the cutting stroke and will not be able to bow.

Let the saw do the work.

Never force the blade on the push stroke as you will be pushing against the direction of the teeth. Carefully take the pressure off the blade in order to release the saw.

Generally you should experience fewer vibrations and use less effort enabling longer work and improved productivity.

The saw should be stored in the closed position and cleaned of any debris/dirt to ensure a smooth opening operation. Ideally the blade should be cleaned with a solvent being careful to keep it away from the handle - this will help prolong its useful life. Store away from moisture.

WARNING. NEVER CUT DIRECTLY ABOVE YOUR HEAD. Always consider where the falling branches will land on the ground. We strongly recommend the use of protective hard hats and glasses.

WARNING. Silky Saws are extremely sharp so please be careful when using and keep away from children.

MANUFACTURER WARNING. Incorrect use of a Silky Saw may cause injury. Silky, its affiliates, subsidiaries, importers, distributors and dealers are not responsible for and shall not be liable for any fatality, injury, loss, or damage resulting from the use of its products.

Silky Saws are manufactured from SK-4 carbon steel and cut out by a laser. The teeth are designed with no set which means they are formed inside the width of the blade - this reduces friction and enables a cleaner, faster and easier cut. Many other saws have teeth formed to project outside the width of the blade requiring much greater effort when sawing.

The teeth are not set and they graduate in size from the front to the end of the blade. This style of tooth also makes a larger cut than the thickness of the blade, reducing the chance of the blade jamming in the cut. The blade can be re-sharpened using a feather edge file.

The blades are nickel coated. The advantage of nickel is that this material pours well into the edges. Therefore, the nickel coating is equal all over the blade and that ensures a smooth surface and less material wastage. The nickel plating is applied after the teeth are ground into the blade. In doing so, the teeth will remain sharp for a long time and are protected against rust.

Almost all Silky saws are fitted with a specially designed rubber 'Gom' handle which reduces vibration and improves grip, reducing the danger of slipping in wet conditions.
