Todoku Range

The Todoku Pole Saw offers a high strength oval-shaped fibreglass pole. It has been developed in association with Asahi Glass Co of Japan, one of the world leaders in fibreglass pole technology. The oval shape ensures precise control over the direction of the blade and reduces the bending often encountered on longer pole saws.

It comes in three sections (one base pole and two extensions) and extends to 5.75m high.

Its 390mm curved blade has teeth which are set, and utilises Silky's proprietary 4-Retsume style of teeth which has created a very fast and aggressive saw. This style of tooth is precision-ground, razor-sharp and provides an incredibly fast and surprisingly easy cutting style.

The tooth configuration is fairly aggressive at 6.5 teeth per 30mm.

The curved shaped blade works brilliantly in a pole saw application and includes a lower sickle which is designed for undercutting bark and removing epicormics with a clean cut to avoid damaging the tree. There is also an upper sickle which can be used both to cut vines and also prevents the blade slipping off the limb.

The blade can be adjusted to two different angles for lower or higher position pruning.

Unlike other Silky pole saws, the Todoku Pole Saw is not telescopic. The individual poles connect into each other and have a double locking system – pins/buttons and a safety lever.

The base pole has a rubber end stopper which is designed to absorb impact and a special award winning rubber on the handle section to absorb vibrations and give superior grip in all conditions.

The Todoku Pole Saw comes with a heavy-duty Cordura carry bag making transport easier and offering some protection.

It is possible to re-sharpen the blade using a feather edge file and all other parts are replaceable.

This is a professional fiberglass pole saw. It has oval shaped poles for extra strength and rigidity. The poles fit neatly into each other with a double locking system to keep the poles tightly together. First, there is a robust pin & button combination which hold the poles together, then a safety lever which squeezes the poles tight and prevents the user from accidently releasing one of the pins. It is important that both locking systems are used to ensure the structural rigidity of the extended poles.

As with all Silky Saws, the cut is on the pull stroke which means the blade will be under tension and not bow.

Let the blade do the work for you.

Never force the blade on the push stroke as you will be pushing against the direction of the teeth. If the blade becomes caught, do not push hard against it. Carefully take the pressure off the blade in order to release the saw.

The Todoku Pole Saw should always be stored in the closed position with the blade guard in place. It should also be cleaned of any debris/dirt to ensure a smooth opening operation. The blade should ideally be cleaned with a solvent – this will help to prolong its useful life.

WARNING. DO NOT USE AS A HOT STICK. This pole saw is not insulated. DO NOT USE WHEN WET. Moisture, dust and dirt significantly increase risk of electrocution. Keep this product clean and dry. While it is made of fibreglass it is not insulated and the hollow construction will allow moisture to collect - do not use when wet!

WARNING. DO NOT USE POLE SAWS WITHIN 15M OF POWER LINES OR ELECTRICAL WIRES. Failure to heed this warning may result in serious injury or death by electrocution.

WARNING. NEVER CUT DIRECTLY ABOVE YOUR HEAD. Always consider where falling branches will land on the ground. We strongly recommend the use of protective hard hats and glasses when using pole saws.

WARNING. Silky Saws are extremely sharp so please be careful when using and keep away from children. Improper use can cause serious injury.

MANUFACTURER WARNING. Incorrect use of a Silky Saw may cause injury. Silky, its affiliates, subsidiaries, importers, distributors and dealers are not responsible for and shall not be liable for any fatality, injury, loss, or damage resulting from the use of its saws.

The blade is manufactured from SK-4 carbon steel and cut out by laser. The taper-ground profile reduces drag and directs more usable energy to the cutting edge.

In addition, the Todoku Pole Saw utilises Silky's proprietary 4-RETSUME teeth technology which literally means four rows of teeth. As a result, the teeth are set in such a way that there appears to be four rows of them which leads to faster, more aggressive and easier pruning. These saws can easily be used for rougher cutting for heavier tasks as they can rip-cut, cross cut and slant-cut.

The blades on the Todoku Pole Saw are also chrome plated which helps protect against rust and sap as well as providing additional strength. This also helps extend the life of the blade.

Todoku blades are not manufactured using electro impulse hardening and as such can be re-sharpened using a feather edge file. This should help extend the life of the blade.
